My Opinion: If you can afford one of these to start with get one, because it has everything you'll ever need!!! If you have enough for the Vestax PMC-55 get that. I even picked one up myself. It's a downgrade for me, but its smaller, and has an excellent new PCV fader.

The PMC-170A is a European style Techno/Trance mixer featuring 60mm faders, 4 mic input, AUX send/return and more.
3 Band EQ has been improved to be -24dB to +6dB range
The new cut switch ("KILL'S") is provided on each band of the EQ. These are in switch form which I find better than the button form.
User replacable 60mm input faders, and 45mm cross fader, make on sight service very easy. Optional input rotary volume can be replaced with the fader for "House" application
60mm long faders are provided for 3 program channels. More sensitive control can be achieved for Techno/Trance mixing.
Effect switch is equipped on each channel.
P.F.L. (pre-fader listen) switch is provided for prefader monitoring.
The input levels are monitored by over load Indicator.
Ten segment LED level meter is provided for careful level check.
